about the piece

description
This work was written for the 2009 Bernese Cantonal Music Festival in Büren an der Aare, Switzerland. The central theme is the “Büreliedli” (Büren-song) by Willy Hug from 1950. With subtle sensitivity and poetry, Thomas Rüedi guides the listener through the picturesque town of Büren an der Aare: The time-honored castle of the bailiffs quietly dreams away, the magnificent town hall is resplendent, the two pretty town fountains babble, the imposing wooden bridge, the landmark of the “Stedtli”, connects the two banks - and the Aare always flows, like a stream of time, connecting past and present.
